New Products

Paul and I just got back from an amazing trip to Kenya. We were fortunate to see so much wildlife up close in the largest open space you can imagine. There were a lot of baby animals this time of year. Africa is one of the last remaining places to view wildlife in such large numbers.

When we got back from our trip we were delighted to find that some new items came in that we special ordered. We have a new Double Weave Sea Grass Mat in both large and small oval shape that maybe the most ideal mats for inside cages. They are thicker and they won’t slip or roll as much as other mats. This is the ideal solution for bunnies in cages to prevent sore hocks.

We also have a newly designed Hay Rack. Similar to the old hay rack but with squared sides and free-standing. We have a new little Unpeeled Pet Bed that is a perfect resting place for small bunnies, guinea pigs and other small animals - made of heavier willow for longer lasting chewing.

We have lots of wonderful new t-shirts, sweatshirts and cards created for Bunny Lu Adoptions. All of these items feature high quality images from a few different bunny artists such as Kristine Kasheta.

Your purchase of these cards and shirts benefits Bunny Lu Adoptions - a non-profit rescue group founded in 1999 and located in Haymarket, VA. Click here to read more about this organization.

We also have these hand-crafted wood cars that are designed for rabbits and custom-made for The Busy Bunny. A nudge from a rabbit nose will make these cars roll and they will provide many, many hours of safe chewing. Handmade in California, these are a must-have for those lucky, spoiled bunnies out there.
Handcrafted Surfmobile
That is our Candy Girl with the Surfmobile. The Black fluff ball in the background is her mate Eddie. We adopted both of them several years ago from Donna Jensen at the Burrow Inn in South San Francisco.

Santa Boot Filled Santa BootEvery once in a while, we come up with some really inspired ideas and are immodest enough to boast about them. Our newest item, the Santa boot, is just such an idea. Lisa came up with the idea for this boot-shaped basket because we wanted to be able to give stockings to our bunnies, and could not find stockings made from edible materials. I tried to find other uses for this boot, but it is not waterproof and is too small for my feet. Lisa found a better use for this basket by creating a filled boot that has 3 willow candy canes, 2 peeled willow balls, 2 unpeeled willow balls, a Funny Bunny star ornament, and a $5 BunnyBucks coupon - she called this the Santa Boot with Snowballs and Candy Canes.

When Your Rabbit Needs Special Care

We have been long anticipating this new book by Lucile C. Moore and Kathy Smith and it is now available!

When Your Rabbit Needs Special Care is an illustrated guide to the care and behavior of rabbits with special needs. This book provides information on topics as diverse as how to administer subcutaneous fluids to how sounds and color help promote healing.

This book includes quotes from top rabbit veterinarians, alternative healing practitioners, as well as useful tips from rabbit owners who have had experience in dealing with particular medical conditions. The text is illustrated with both photographs and drawings, making it easy for readers to follow.

Authors Lucile C. Moore and Kathy Smith provide owners of special-needs rabbits with information on basic care, pain control, digestive system problems, chronic illnesses, physically challenged rabbits, progressive disabilities causing mobility problems, dental care, elderbuns, and emotional issues. 456 pages, 6 x 9 inches (15.24 x 22.86 cm), paperback.

Several months ago Lisa and I were lucky to be chosen as beta testers for Binky Bunny’s newest product, the Maze Haven. Since Lisa did all of the hard work (she drove there and back so that I could have a drink at Forbidden Island) I got to be the one who put it together.

Even for a beta version, the instructions were quite good. I opted for the 2-story configuration as our bunny room is long and narrow, and they share it with our laundry area. We received our test maze back in December 2007, and it is still structurally sound - in spite of all of the remodeling that has been done (without a building permit or plans!) by Eddie and Candy.

We recently received an email from some friends of ours:

Our new baby is not, as you might have probably already thought, a new bunny. No, we just launched a new website for rabbit owners. Basically Myspace for bunnies :) The site is called Bunspace and you can find it at www.bunspace.com

We have not yet created our bunspace, but plan on doing so in the future. Check them out - if you like the site, tell them Busy Bunny sent you!

This last weekend we added 7 new items:

tg24.jpg Coir Fiber Doormat

tg21.jpg Floating Mini Candles

tg22.jpg Blue Vintage Cottontail Dishtowel

You may have noticed that the categories changed around a bit. I upgraded our Wordpress database to the new and improved, more secure, bigger, better, faster version and somehow the categories disapparated. I started re-categorizing everything, but got sleepy and went to bed.

I hope it is not un-American to be working on blog posts during the Super Bowl, but I’ve never been a big fan of football. I was glued to my computer during the Maverick’s competition a few weeks ago, so I’m not averse to sports - just basketball, football, golf, and televised baseball (I love watching the Giants at ATT/SBC/Pacbell Park). I’m not very interested by the commercials this year, either. Fortunately for all of you, that means I have plenty of time to scan some new Bad Bunny Ranch notecards, upload the images, and hammer out a blog post about them.
